Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera

a3649b638ec996a0c7759932a8fb7681

More and more I see myself gravitate AWAY from the DSLR.  I’m not sure if it means giving up on any hopes of turning pro even later in life, but I see it as  just exploring various forms of photography that allows us to preserve memories.

I already have a Fujifilm Instax 50s for instamatic love, but I am currently out of film. I also own the Polaroid Pogo Printer. I’m still a little disappointed that I can’t use the Pogo with my iPhone, but instant prints from a P&S camera is fun too.

This Polaroid Z340 allows one to take digital photos that can be later still be downloaded to a computer and shared electronically, while giving you the option to print them out too. So it’s having the best of both worlds: analog and digital! Smile

I don’t think there are edit options on-camera (that would make it so cool) and that’s why I sooooo wanted to print directly from iPhone to Pogo. Instagram, Hipstamatic and my current favorite Camera+ add vavoom to simple shots.

Anyway, though I am adding this to my wishlist, it’s not high up in my priorities. It would be a welcome Christmas gift though Smile

Thanks again to Geeky Gadgets for the tip on this one.

instaxmanila-raceto11y

Help Instax Manila’s Facebook page get about 475 more likes before 11.11.11 and get the chance to win Fuji Film Instax 50s in Piano Black.

I already own one, but it wouldn’t hurt to get another no? Specially if it comes free! Smile

But no one will get this precious Instax unless Instax Manila’s Facebook page gets to 1500 likes! So go, Like!

iPhoneography

Stuffed Tomato close

I love my iPhone. I love the Camera+ app, and Instagram too.

Using Camera + yesterday to take and process these amazing photos at Tomato Kick gave me inspiration. I want to do more iPhone photography and I will get this book soon: The Art of iPhoneography by Stephanie Roberts. I wish there was a Kindle edition though, it’s not available in local stores.

But you know what else? I want to be a Food Photographer. I love food and I take photos of food, a lot.

I’d also want to be in child and family photography, but I that will take a longer time for me to be good at, so in the meantime, I’ll try food photography first. Here’s a book that might just help me along in that journey:

I’ve been reading Helene’s blog Tartelette and love how she styles food and photographs them. She inspires me to bake, cook, and capture.

How long will this last?  This sudden burst of inspiration and drive to make something of my beloved hobby. I don’t know. But hopefully I actually make something out of this. I guess you’ll know if I do by the number and quality of posts that go through here. Smile

I hope it at least moves me to keep on capturing the everyday moments and move forward with my Project Life.

If you are into photography, is there something you’re specializing in?

The Yellow Adventures

Hannah Reyes showcases her photography in her blog, The Yellow Adventures. Her photos really do tell stories.

I first followed a link to her blog from a post on the UP Pep Squad’s Facebook wall. Her photos from this year’s cheerdance championship were just so beautiful.

I am amazed at how young she is, and how much depth her photos show. She speaks candidly about her experiences as a budding photo journalist, even posting her battle gear (outfit) for covering the demolition of shanties in an urban poor area.

Her work has been published in local and International newspapers and news sites. I wouldn’t be surprised if she finds herself employed by the most distinguished news and media outfits someday. I am a fan of her work, and I look forward to seeing more from her.

Here’s a screen cap of her blog’s home page for today:

Finding Photo Flow

I’ve made a few photography resolutions privately because I’ve been meaning to take my hobby a little seriously. Sadly, I’m not posting a success story today. Not yet.

I am here though to share some very interesting reads that I’ve come across lately.

From the Digital Photography School came this series of posts on the “5 Lessons I Learned From Shooting With Film About Shooting Portraits”. These 5 lessons are valuable ones. Go read and let me know what lesson you liked the most.

Another thing I wanted to share to budding photographers, and anyone else really who love taking pictures and have amassed quite a lot of them, is this blog: Digiscrap101. Although the title is Digiscrap, Kayla, the author, also takes time to talk about Photo organization. You can back read her posts on that topic, or like me, you may want to checkout her class on Finding Photo Flow. I have signed up and class is set to start on the 7th. I can’t wait.

My photo library is chaotic. I can’t even call it a library. I take lots of pictures, my boyfriend does, and so does my mom. Together all of our photos are prone to being lost in oblivion. Using them for memory keeping is almost impossible after a few months.

I think that’s one of the reasons why I’m not getting anywhere on my photography: I don’t get to use my photos so what’s the point? Let’s hope finding my photo flow helps.

Instant Prints

I received my Polaroid Pogo Mobile Printer on Saturday. Yay!

Photo Sep 24, 4 43 41 PM

It came with 10 sheets of Zink paper. I’ve used two. The first one came out blank because we had it upside down. The second was successful. It was a photo of the boyfriend, printed via Bluetooth from his Blackberry.

The downside? I missed out a very important detail: it isn’t compatible with the iPhone. Ugh. I specifically got this so I could instant prints from my iPhone photos.

There are ways to make it work, I just haven’t been able to spend time on it. If you know of a reliable app that allows Bluetooth transfers on the iPhone4, I’d most appreciate the recommendation.

Thanks in advance! Smile

Vivitar EZ35–2 for P350

I haven’t even received my Polaroid mobile photo printer, and now I’m making a move to buy something to add to my collection. CashCashPinoy has another amazing deal for photography enthusiasts like me:

image

Get two Vivitar EZ35 film cameras for only PhP 350! Wow!

Vivitars are a staple in lomographers’ gear stash. Even My Pink Dress is a Vivitar wannabe. I would have loved this deal more if it sported a 28mm wide angle lens, but 35mm is OK in my book. Two Vivitars for 350 pesos, that’s an amazingly low price. Specially considering that my Pinky set me back 1800 pesos.

I know I don’t do Lomo much (or any photography for that matter), but with its cheap price, welcoming the Vivitar to my small camera family would be amazing! The best thing about this deal? I get to keep one, and then give the other to a friend.

Was even thinking of placing two orders, but that would be overkill. Haha!

Interested? Checkout the deal from CashCashPinoy!

You Capture: Peace

Amir, very peaceful on Grandpa’s shoulder. After fighting off sleep and enjoying the afternoon with family and then at the mall.

Polaroid Pogo Printer

pogo

Since receiving this in my Inbox, I’ve been to the CashCashPinoy website to go over this fab deal!

For only PhP2600, this handy Polaroid Mobile Photo Printer can be yours. I’ve seen this Pogo printer and have contemplated getting it many times before. It requires NO INK! It uses thermal paper (I guess same thing used in Polaroid/Instax cameras) so all you need are stocks of the Zink paper and you’re good to go.

Prints are almost the same as Instax prints – 2” x 3” in size, ATM/credit card. The paper is cheaper than Instax film though, and I hear it’s sticker-backed. That is so cool!

What makes this deal even more appealing to me is that I can use my existing CashCashPinoy credits to lower the cost even more! I’ll just have to convince the boyfriend, and this will be mine to add to my photography/scrapbooking collection. Smile

I posted about my Coupon Crazy life on my blog, read it if you’re wondering about where this deal is coming from. Smile

Anyone out there who owns one? Do share the pros and cons of having it Smile
